Studio Classes

Winter Class registration opens Friday, December 12 at NOON!

PYT’s weekly drama classes are the perfect way for youth of any experience level to build their performing arts skills in a relaxed and safe environment. Learn how to act out a story, combine music and movement, or put on a short play!

Winter/Spring 2026 General Info:

Ages: 5-13

Location: PYT Studios, 2510-A Old Middlefield Way, Mountain View, CA 94043

Session Dates: January 20 – April 7 (no classes 2/16-2/20 and 3/9-3/10)

Participation details:

  • Each class is led by 1 instructor in-studio along with at least 1 supervisor in the building for support.
  • Classes are limited to 20 students maximum.
  • We have limited lobby and outdoor seating for parents to wait on-site during class as needed. Parents are not allowed to observe inside our studio during classes.

Mondays: January 26 – April 6 (no class 2/16 and 3/9)

Theatre FUNdamentals (Musical Theatre Focused)

Ages 9-12
3:30 – 4:30pm

In our Musical Theatre Focused session of Theatre FUNdamentals, aspiring musical theatre performers will work with their teacher to develop voice and dance skills while putting together a showcase of 3-4 musical theatre songs. Throughout the class, students will be challenged to communicate character, emotion, and storytelling within their vocals and choreography. Students will also have the opportunity to assist in choreographing for the showcase. On the final day of class, students will perform their musical theatre showcase for family and friends.

Studio Players
Ages 9-12
4:45 – 5:45pm

Aspiring performers will hone their performance skills, with a focus on creating strong and unique characters. Students will be challenged to express their character(s) through clear physicality, animated facial expressions, and varied vocal inflection. They will work together with their director to prepare a play that will perform on the final day of class.

Tuesdays: January 20 – April 7 (no class 2/17 and 3/10)

Broadway Dreamers (Musical Theatre)
Ages 6-8
3:30 – 4:30pm

Young performers will learn to sell Broadway songs through voice, movement, and character, and have a lot of fun doing it! Performers will learn some basic musical theatre dance terminology and steps to continue developing their performance skills. Students will also be introduced to some basic vocal techniques. On the final day of class, they will perform their songs for family and friends.

Pint Size Players
Ages 6-8
4:45 – 5:45pm

Young performers will get to experience all of the things that go into putting on a real show! Students will work with their instructor to audition for and rehearse a short script. They’ll work on creating character through body and voice, and working in an ensemble as they prepare for their final performance on the last day of class.

Wednesdays: January 21 – April 1 (no class 2/18)

Theatre FUNdamentals (Acting and Improvisation Focused)
Ages 9-12
3:30 – 4:30pm

In our Acting and Improvisation-focused session of Theatre FUNdamentals, aspiring actors will work with their teacher to continue to develop their acting and improvisation skills while putting together a showcase of short scenes and improv games. Throughout the class, students will be challenged to communicate character, emotion, and storytelling through scripted and improvised scenes. On the final day of class, students will perform their scene showcase for family and friends.

Sketch Comedy and Scene Writing
Ages 9-12

Aspiring performers will be challenged to develop and hone their improv and storytelling skills by writing and creating their own sketch comedy scenes! Students will continue to work on creating scenes with clear and specific character choices and communicating through physicality and vocal inflection. With the help of their instructor, students will develop and write their own short sketch comedy scenes! On the final day of class, they’ll have a showcase for family and friends where they’ll be able to perform the scenes they’ve created.

Thursdays: January 22 – April 2 (no class 2/19)

Improv Fun and Games
Ages 6-8
3:30 – 4:30pm

Young performers will explore the basics of improvisation, character development, and how to use one’s imagination to create scenes onstage. With their instructor, performers will work on quick thinking, and making original characters come to life! On the final day of class, they’ll have a showcase for family and friends where they’ll be able to perform some of their favorite improv games.

Storytelling Through Puppetry
Ages 6-8

In this new class young performers will explore the world of puppetry! They’ll learn how to use puppets to convey a story, how to manipulate puppets and make their own! With their instructor, performers will work on the basics of puppetry and acting, using those skills (and their puppets!) to perform a short collection of Raggedy Ann stories on the final day of class.

Fridays: January 23 – April 3 (no class 2/20)

Munchkin Players
Ages 5-6
3:30 – 4:15pm

Budding performers will let their imaginations fly in this class! Using pantomime, sounds, and games to practice relaxing in front of a group, students will work as a team to practice a short script. Students will learn the basics of performance techniques as well as some simple theatre terminology. On the final day of class they’ll perform for their family and friends.

Rewrite This Story
Ages 10-13

If you’ve ever read a fairytale or folktale and said, “Hmm, I think this story would be better if…” then you’ll love this brand new class! In this class, with the assistance and guidance of their teacher, students will choose a well known fairytale or folktale to rewrite and perform. Students will learn basic story structure and character development while writing a shortened version of their chosen story, be cast in the show and get to work on making strong acting choices, vocal inflection, and communicating through physicality. On the final day of class, students will get to perform their rewritten fairytale/folklore for family and friends.

 

Transfers and Cancellations

Up to one week prior to your class start date, refunds can be provided for cancellations minus a $50 fee. No refunds are provided within a week of the class start date.

Transfer requests up to one week before your class start date will be charged a $25 transfer fee. Any transfers requested after the start of class are will be charged a $50 fee. No transfers are available after the first full week of classes. All transfers are subject to availability.
